The Year Ahead in Astrology: 2022 Predictions

The astrology for 2022 looks ‘softer’ than the past 2 years. However we are still living with the ripples of the big astrology that was at play since we hit 2020 (and even late 2019). That ripple is due to Pluto who will continue his destruction in Capricorn until 2023. Pluto and Neptune will continue to be big figures in this year’s astrology - calling us deeper into our spiritual gifts and into our own personal + collective transformation.

First up remember that a year is a construct

First things first, it’s important to remember that a year is a construct. In fact the year we currently follow from January to December was only adopted in the 1500s by the Pope Gregory XIII (hence why it’s called the Gregorian Calendar). It might be longer or shorter depending on our Karma and what it is we are asking to come about. Added to that the universality of this calendar (aka all countries regardless of season starting on the 1st of January) talks to a deeper issue we have within society, which is the over extension of the patriarchy. For instance here in the Southern Hemisphere we start the year in the height of Summer - which would be like planting seeds when your flowers are already blooming. It’s important to keep this in mind, and even within how you show up in life. We are in a meta shift which is a return to balancing the feminine, and letting go of the deep seated need for power, control, and subjugation (all aspects of the toxic masculine or patriarchy).

That said, if we were to break down this year….

This looks to be a year of CleanSing, Courage + Getting Conscious…

There is a sense we are finding our place within this collective shift and cleansing of the toxic masculine - which is building to 2024 (when Pluto moves into Aquarius). Actively seeing the places where we hold fear + control within us, and deciding whether to perpetuate that further. This year is calling for you to step up and to make the necessary changes in your life you have been putting off.

There are two ways (roughly speaking) to work with astrology

You can work with it, or wait for it to metaphorically kick you up the ass. You are in a period of time where you are being called to cleanse and start to look at the parts your life that are out of alignment - be that friendships, a job, a partners. In fact this is what the energy of the last 2 years has been about. FYI it gets more and more painful the more you hang on. Be prepared (in the best of ways) to realise that your soul is calling the shots (it always has been) - but this year you’ll certainly get a feel for it particularly if the ego refuses to let go of it’s attachments. This year can feel a little like you are being called to sage your life. To get more proactive in releasing, in order to allow the new in.

So let’s break down the major astrology happening and give you some guidance on how to navigate this energy.

North Node will Enter Taurus + South Node will Enter Scorpio

We are in for a big shift as we head into the year as the North Node (which represents your Soul Purpose) moves out of Gemini and into Taurus on the 18th-19th of January. This also means the South Node (which represents Karma) will move into Scorpio. So there is a lot of dredging up of shadows that exist within you and relate to the way in which you crave control, wish for power and even treat those around you as toys in a game. Pay attention as this can often show up in the most subtle of ways - and it requires self-love through the process of seeing all of these parts of self. It can feel as though you are being called to work through old family, past life + societal karma, that lives within and is a reflection of structures that desire to create control.

The other part of this is that the North Node’s move into Taurus is a call to examine your values and to find stability within yourself. To realise that life is meant to be fun, enjoyable and it’s ok to indulge and not feel guilty. Taurus is a beautiful calming energy, its incredibly grounded and can have you focusing more on the material realm and even starting to get comfortable with money + possessions - realising that these are momentary and just manifestations of energy.

This will feel particularly big for those with Taurus or Scorpio Sun, Moon or Ascendent, as well as those going through their North Node/South Node return around 36-37 yo, 54-55 yo, 72-73 yo or 90-91 yo. For this in your North Node returns this is a new cycle in your soul purpose - huge.

Jupiter will move conjunct Neptune in Pisces

This for me is the single biggest thing happening this year. Jupiter - the planet of luck + exploration - will move into alignment with Neptune - which rules drugs, the subconscious + dream realms - on the 12th of April. This hasn’t happened in 13 years - the last time they were together was in 2009 on the 21st of December + the 10th of July (this was in the sign of Aquarius). However the last time they were together in Pisces was in March 1856. This is energy can feel like you are being called to explore the energetic world in a new way, starting to experience your dream world with a new reverence and even a call to start to study, teach or learn more about the subconscious + energetic realms. As a collective this energy normally shows up an earthquake (literally + figuratively). It can produce immense volcanic activity and within us, this can feel like the ground is moving underneath us.

This will feel particularly big for those with Pisces or Virgo Sun, Moon or Ascendent, as well as those going through their Jupiter return which happens every 11 years.

Jupiter will enter Aries

Jupiter just moved into Pisces on the 29th of December, where he will stay until May 10th. As he moves into Aries on the 11th of May, you are being called into the start of a new cycle. One that is asking you to examine where you restrict or limit yourself. Jupiter is all about abundance and his ultimate aim is to help you realise your unlimited potential. That requires you to get really clear on the mind games you play with yourself that have you second guessing what is possible for you in this life. As he hits Aries (where he will remain until October 28th, its time to feel that enthusiasm and lust for life that he carries with him. To feel the call to dive head first into new energy - be that travelling overseas, learning a new language or skill; or taking the leap to teach others.

This will feel particularly big for those with Aries or Libra Sun, Moon or Ascendent.

2022 is a part of a bigger picture

It’s important to remember that 2022 is part of a bigger picture. We can’t simply look at a year and decide how things are going to be - when quite literally the soul that lives within is eternal. It’s important to keep 2022 in perspective. If I were to focus on anything it would be on the 5 year period 2020 to 2025 - for it is during this time we starting to see the shadows that live within us and society. This looks like this energy will peak in 2023, so expect 2022 to have a lot of similarities to 2021 but with the added benefit of you having been sitting in this energy for some time. As you hit 2024 we will be entering a period of immense change - a shifting of the guard so to speak. So know that this year forms a part of that revolutionary road ahead.
